Fewer teachers are taking "sickies" and the number of days lost due to ill-health are also down. New Assembly government statistics show 56 per cent (17,181) of all Welsh teachers took sick leave in 2005, compared with 60 per cent in 2004. The number of days lost was down 11,488 to 221,883 over the same period. See www.new.wales.gov.uk
