Class size cuts to a maximum of 20 in S1 and S2 in English and mathematics will, nationally, need the recruitment of 600 extra teachers in each subject, councillors in Moray have heard.

Once in place, officials say that schools will be left with a "strange assortment" of limits: P1 - 25; P2 and P3 - 30; P4-P7 - 33; primary composite - 25; S1 and S2 English and maths - 20; secondary practical classes - 20; all other classes - 33.
