New National Technician Council should help create a new class of technicians

The Government has set up a national Technician Council to help realise its dream of creating a new class of technicians, as set out in last November's Skills for Growth white paper. Steve Holliday, chief executive of the National Grid, will chair the new council, which will draft standards for the registration of technicians. It will also promote the professional status of, and recognition for, technicians.
