Teenagers know employment is changing

2nd March 2001 at 00:00
Teenagers know employment is changing and appropriate qualifications are changing too. The Work Skills resource pack is a set of 11 photocopiable classroom activities for pupils between years 9 and 13. Wielding phrases such as "knowledge economy" and "globalisation" with some nonchalance, the pack gives students opportunities to think about what they might be doing a few years hence. Some involve role-play, exploring netwoking and negotiating. Others directly engage with reality, making plans for volunteering or work experience placements. All require imaginative and practical thought about the world that is waiting.

Work Skills is published by Trotman Publishing and costs pound;70. It can be ordered from Plymbridge Distributors, Estover Road, Plymouth PL6 7PY. Tel: 0870 900 2665. Website: www.trotmanpublishing.co.uk Tom Deveson
