Teens' time survey

31st October 2008 at 00:00

A survey of teenagers about the use of their free time suggests seven out of 10 would like to get more involved in sport, music and community work. The Department for Children, Schools and Families said the text message poll of 3,500 16 to 19-year-olds countered the perception that teens were lazy. But nine out of 10 of those polled admitted spending much of their time hanging out at home or with friends because of a lack of opportunities in their area. The department has enlisted the help of Kieron Richards, the 22-year-old who plays Ste Hay in Hollyoaks, to promote the findings.
