Tempt science teachers with prestige not pounds...or is shortage just a myth?

WHERE are all these schools desperate for science teachers? Those that advertise in The TES clearly expect from the tone of their adverts to have the pick of the newly-qualified bunch. The agency charged with finding scools to take graduates on as trainee-teachers had very little success and has been wound up. So is the great science teacher shortage a myth?
