Terror warning

30th July 2004 at 01:00
Parents are being advised not to rush to collect children from school in the event of a terrorist attack.

The advice comes in a Home Office booklet sent to all households this week.

It says parents will want to collect children straight away, but it might not be safe to do so. Instead they should listen to local radio to check what authorities have arranged. Advice for teachers is on the web at www.teachernet.gov.uk emergencies
