TES helped me pay debt of gratitude

In January, you published a letter in which I explained that I was looking for two teachers from my school - to thank them.

As a child, I struggled with a form of dyslexia and was told I would amount to nothing. Then I was taught by Mrs Plumber and Miss Brewer at St John Rigby RC School in Kent. Without their help, I am sure I would not have gone on to get 10 GCSEs, gain a degree and become a 747 pilot.

The letter led the school's deputy head (now in Florida) to call me. Through his files, we found Mrs Plumber and, through her contacting old colleagues, Miss Brewer. We met and talked about the past - it was priceless. I got the chance, 20 years after I left, to do the rare thing and thank these fantastic teachers who made a difference.
