This year The TES has introduced a new Resources Award for mixed media to reflect the latest developments in publishing and the growing range of technologies available to schools. The judges were looking for an exciting and innovative package that would offer a variety of material for teachers and pupils to explore, using a whole range of senses. Above all, they were looking for:

* Creativity and appropriate use of available technologies

* At least three different media (for example, print, audio, video, software, CD-Rom, etc)

* Cohesiveness, with all the elements usefully complementing each other

* Relevance to the UK curriculum

* Appropriateness to targeted age and subject group

* Flexibility for different levels of ability where appropriate

* Good, clear support materials for teachers

* Ease of use without great technical knowledge

* Value for money
