Test failure

ONLY seven of Edinburgh's 23 secondary schools had carried out national tests at the end of last session, council figures reveal. The remaining schools claim they will do so in the current year.

In primary, 92 of the 103 schools had tested their pupils. The failure of secondary schools in particular to embrace testing in S1 and S2 is one of the factors behind the Education Minister's decision to order a review of 5-14 assessment.
