Thieves and heidies

19th November 2004 at 00:00
The parish priest was struggling to get the right answer out of a primary 4 class on the south side of Glasgow, as he spoke to them about the two thieves crucified on either side of Christ.

"One thief said to Our Lord: 'Remember me when you come into your kingdom.'

Now who was that?" asked the priest.

A hand shot up. "Please father, it was Mr (the headteacher)."

The heidie's name has been withheld to save theological embarrassment. For those who need to know, the correct answer should have been the Good Thief.
