(Photograph) - Tino Ferri, one of the most distinctive voices on the teaching union scene, retires next week as Scottish representative on the UK executive of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers. Writing in this week's TES Scotland, Mr Ferri calls on the Scottish Executive to move away from its policy of "more fattening of the sacred cow of geographical comprehensives" to learning communities based on "an extensive liberalisation of the curriculum".
