Tooth decay alert

BISCUITS for toddlers and babies are sweeter than jam tarts and doughnuts, says a report which accuses baby food makers of endangering health.

Tim Lobstein, author of the Food Commision report, said: "If manufacturers wanted to design a product to rot children's teeth they couldn't have done a better job."

Manufacturers called the report "alarmist".
