Tory pledge doubts

Public sector union Unison says its members will take the Conservative party's promise to invest in further education with a huge pinch of salt

General secretary Dave Prentis said: "Years of Conservative under-investment meant that Labour needed to increase spending by over 52 per cent and rebuild nearly half of the infrastructure to replace old- fashioned facilities and buildings unfit for students to work in."
