JANE Davidson, minister of education and lifelong learning in Wales, led tributes to Wyn Roberts, chief executive of the Welsh Joint Education Committee , whose funeral took place this week. Mr Roberts, 52, died nearly two weeks ago, less than a month after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Gethin Lewis, secretary of National Union of Teachers Cymru, said: "Wyn led WJEC with great vision and his death at 52 is a sad loss. The work of the WJEC is safe and that's totally down to him."
