Truants enjoy fun in the sun

A quarter of Lancashire pupils skipped school to take a holiday, according to council officials. A study, carried out between August 2003 and June 2004, revealed that 25 per cent of children aged five to 16 missed up to 10 days for a family break. Lancashire county council has issued guidelines to heads urging them to clamp down on the worst offenders.
