Truant's mother jailed

A LEICESTERSHIRE mother has become the fourth parent to be jailed for failing to ensure that her child regularly attends school. The 53-year-old was sentenced to one month in prison by Leicester magistrates. The court heard her 12-year-old daughter had attended school only six times out of a possible 110 last term.
