Truants' parents fined pound;500 each

A RECORD fine has been imposed on the parents of two children who repeatedly failed to attend a school in Kent. Each parent was fined pound;250 for each child plus pound;75 costs each, a total of pound;1150, for failing to acknowledge responsibility to their children. The boy aged 12 and the girl, 14, had attended the school in Sittingbourne 22 times out of 106 days this term.
