England's education secretary Michael Gove called for state schools to be allowed to stay open for up to 10 hours a day. In a speech this week, he claimed that this would help them to become "indistinguishable" from the best private schools. Needless to say, views among the Twitterati were mixed.
Michael Gove wants children to go to school for 10 hours - they stop caring after 6 hours let alone 10.
Has Gove taken ANY expert advice on extending school day to 10 hours? Impact on child development, quality of family life for ALL involved? Cost?
Gove's finally come out with something interesting. Would have helped my postcode a lot. #DruggyGangsNotFun
Couldn't think of anything worse than a 10-hour school day; 6 hours felt way too long for me. Will not be envious of kids if it goes ahead.
