Unions urge boycott

Two unions are seeking a boycott of a Kent school where three teachers have been disciplined in three months. The National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers advise members not to apply for jobs at St Mary's RC primary in Whitstable, following claims that two teachers smacked children.

One was suspended and reinstated, the other was investigated by police before the matter was dropped for lack of evidence. A third is claiming unfair dismissal on a separate issue.
