United we stand when it comes to unions and their effectiveness

16th April 2010 at 01:00

Trade unions are about far more than their annual conferences. Away from the media spotlight that such events attract - and are partly staged to attract - unions advise, represent, help, care for and inform their members and negotiate on their behalf.

Philip Parkin, General secretary, Voice, Derby.
