Valuing the School Community award scheme

9th March 2001 at 00:00
All schools need to know what they're doing and where they're going.

Valuing the School Community will help them do so. Though designed specifically for an award scheme within Essex, the 200-page ring binder contains enough material for any school to put in some exhaustive and thought-provoking self-assessment. There are questionnaires, formats for interviews, checklists for observations of classes and corridors and much more. The aim of the enterprse is to see how far positive behaviour is encouraged, whether or not parents and carers are genuinely involved, and how far the school promotes the values it proclaims.

Valuing the School Community costs pound;85 (pound;35 to Essex schools) from Joanne Bond, information and publications officer, Education Library, PO Box 47, Chelmsford CM2 6WN. Tel: 01245 436308 (ask for Joanne Bond). Email:
