Victims of union

4th October 1996 at 01:00
The article by Nigel de Gruchy, general secretary of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (TES, September 20) needs no response from me except to correct his attempt to deflect my criticism of NASUWT policy on to his members. His teachers are not bullies but victims of the NASUWT approach to exclusion. Teachers are entitled to support and guidance in keeping with their professional status and should not be led into a media circus.
