View from the top

Readers will no doubt have spotted the advert in last week's TESS for the post of director of education and recreation in Aberdeenshire, vacated in haste by Sohail Faruqi.

The accompanying pictorial shot implies a lovely rural idyll, focusing on Dunottar Castle perched on its clifftop looking majestically out to sea. It invites potential applicants to "enjoy the view from the top".

Surely the council can't be inviting comparisons with a crumbling ruin?
