Every primary pupil in Wales will be able to start the day with a free breakfast by 2006, the Welsh Assembly has announced.

Jane Davidson, minister for education and lifelong learning, has committed up to pound;1.5 million in 20045, to back the Labour party's manifesto pledge to provide breakfasts at all primaries. The scheme will be piloted in deprived areas before going nationwide.
