BETT award-winning RadioWaves - "the fastest growing network of pupil reporters and school radio stations in the UK" - is an online network of school radio stations produced by and for students.

"With RadioWaves, children learn about new equipment and software, go away and plan their programmes, then come back and record and edit them," says Tim Riches, the managing director of Synergy.tv.

Fife education authority recently invested in RadioWaves for its schools.

"We provide technology and training that lets them link up with each other," says Mr Riches.

"We also have dbass, which is a national music chart, resources, samples and a musician's room with a toolkit for making music collaboratively. It is effective and motivating because it is about real-life learning."
