Worcestershire - Sexual health site goes live

5th June 2009 at 01:00

A sexual health site offering teens services such as postal chlamydia tests went live this month.

Worcestershire Teenage Pregnancy Partnership timed the launch to coincide with the end of the school year to remind students of the importance of safe sex over the summer.

Young people's views were considered when planning the site, which offers advice on pregnancy, contraception, sexually transmitted infections and relationships.

There is also a School Daze section, which provides simple explanations about puberty.

Teens can type in their postcode to find their nearest sexual health centre, where under-19s can also obtain a C-Card entitling them to free condoms.

Other services include an RU Ready? interactive quiz to encourage youngsters to reflect on their situation and an Ask us a Question page, where health professionals are available to answer any worry, big or small.

Simon Rushall, service development manager for the partnership, said: "It is important that young people don't take unnecessary risks with their sexual health, or feel pressured into having sex because they believe their friends are." lm
