Artworks in the National Galleries of Scotland are inspiring thousands of children to write and paint. Last month saw the publication of inspired? get writing!, a collection of poems and shorts stories triggered by pictures on a gallery visit or on the NGS website. It also saw the launch of an exhibition featuring 53 winners from last year's Art Competition for Schools. Currently on display at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, until January 13, the exhibition will travel to the MacRobert Art Centre in Stirling from January 18-March 14, and the Lime Tree Gallery in Fort William from April 1-May 19. Entries are being invited for next year's Get Writing! competition, deadline January 22, and 2010 art competition, deadline May 7.
