With the annual row about falling standards, you would assume it might be a busy period for Ken Boston, head of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Yet Mr Boston has still found time to attend at least one test match to support his native Australia.
Whether the straight-talking Aussie was accompanied to the game by his old chum Rolf Harris is unconfirmed. But it is touching to imagine them hiding behind Rolf’s wobble board after last week’s narrow two-run win for England.
Sadly, Ken may find it trickier to watch the fourth test in Nottingham on Thursday. The match coincides with the publication of GCSE results.
