A headteacher who blamed his bizarre crime spree on a psychological disorder has escaped without punishment.
A GTC panel decided to take the “exceptional” step of taking no action against Peter Rodgers because he stole washing powder and wood due to acute stress.
Mr Rodgers, who works at Edgar Sewter Primary School in Halesworth, Suffolk, was convicted of burglary, theft and criminal damage after stealing on two occasions in March last year and ordered to pay a #163;800 fine.
At a GTC hearing last week he said he was in a “dissociative state” at the time, where judgment becomes inefficient leading to “bizarre behaviour”. Suffolk County Council recommended Mr Rodgers should keep his job.
