Jotter’s unceasing quest to unearth the quaint and the quirky continues.

The latest example concerns one local authority which has adopted a scheme to ensure peace and quiet for hard-working officials in open-plan offices.

Anyone wishing to deter trivial, or even serious, interjections from their colleagues simply places a green parrot on their desk as an indication that they are too busy to be approached.

The jape was introduced after a training session given by one of Scotland’s leading education consultancies, so it must be kosher, which is probably more than we can say for the parrot.
