Education authorities are readily accused by parents of cooking the books when it comes to their arguments for closing schools.
So it’s perhaps not a surprise to note that a recent meeting of Fife’s children’s services committee had to make one or two changes to an earlier report on the shape of schooling in St Andrews.
“Two children per 20 household’ should read ‘two children per 10 households’,” ran the first erratum. And that’s not to mention the school “role” rather than “roll”. Or indeed “under-occupancy” instead of “under-capacity”.
