All pupils should be encouraged to take an A- or AS-level in critical thinking, according to Tim Birkhead, professor of behavioural ecology at Sheffield University. The subject has been dismissed by some universities, but Professor Birkhead, writing in today’s TES, urges schools to consider it as he regards it as good preparation for higher education.
