Those who can, sell insurance

LOUISE Loxton shows an arrogance that harms the teaching profession when she says “to equate teachers with insurance employees is ridiculous” (TES, February 25).

Insurance staff need to become professionally qualified to degree level. They also have to move with the times. If they don’t they quickly becme ex-employees.

Ms Loxton is under the impression that anyone presentable who has certain social skills can become an insurance salesperson. On the evidence of her letter I think the “social skills” requirement would probably rule her out.
