Three-quarters of Manchester’s secondary schools are performing at average or above average levels according to OFSTED’s own analysis, writes Nicholas Pyke.
Devised for OFSTED by the University of London Institute of Education, the analysis divides schools into five types. Factors include eligibility for free school meals, parental education, special educational needs and the proportion of girls.
The model would allow schools to see how good their GCSE results were compared with others facing the same social circumstances. The analysis is only available to local authorities.
