You might think it’s all over when the fat lady (or gent) sings the sea shanties. Not so. After the euphoria of the Last Night of the Proms, there will still be something to look forward to - the Junior Prom, given by the BBC Concert Orchestra, at 2.30pm on Monday, September 8, in the Royal Albert Hall.

Tony Robinson (of Blackadder and children’s television fame) will present Wet Wet Wet!, a concert for six to 14-year-olds featuring music of all kinds from various periods on the theme of water.

* The TES is offering free tickets for three classes, each with two accompanying teachers. Please write to the editor of The TES, explaining why you think your class of up to 30 would benefit from this opportunity. The three most interesting letters will be chosen by the editor, whose decision is final.

Your letter, the envelope clearly marked “Prom”, should be no more than 300 words long and should arrive at The TES, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1 9XY by May 30. Winners will be announced on June 13.

Another 400 free tickets are being offered by The Times. On Tuesday a competition will be announced on its arts pages, where there will also be information about how to buy tickets at Pounds 3 each.
