An exhibition created entirely by primary school children and inspired by the story of the Titanic opens at the Smith Art Gallery and Museum in Stirling next week. Titanic, which runs from May 16 until June 30, features paintings, drawings, writing, film, photography and 3D models made by P6 pupils from the eight primary and special schools within the Wallace High cluster in Stirling.
The exhibition is the result of a three-month project which was coordinated by Elaine Wyllie, a senior teacher at St Ninians Primary. Pupils used the Titanic story not only as an inspiration for writing and art work, but for historical, sociological and scientific research, as well as ethical questioning, such as who should be given the last place on a lifeboat - a stowaway or a first-class, paying passenger?
