Connexions should be stopped from giving pupils careers advice, the Conservatives have proposed.

Tim Collins, shadow education secretary, said the Conservatives would be “strongly inclined” towards removing the careers service from Connexions and either setting up a new national agency or passing responsibility for the service to local authorities. The party’s proposals have been applauded by the Institute of Career Guidance.
