* More good news for portable computer users. Toshiba has developed a prototype methanol fuel cell for portable PCs. The cell mixes water with methanol and provides up to five hours of operating time. If the fuel cells work as well as Toshiba promises, they could replace the lithium-ion batteries used by most portable PCs today. Toshiba plans to launch the new fuel cells next year.
