CHILDREN as young as three are to receive driving lessons to keep them safe when they venture out in electric-powered toy cars. The police-backed scheme has been set up by Redcar and Cleveland Council after complaints that parents were allowing children to drive the toy cars on roads. Road safety officer Mike Hall said: "We had a complaint from a driver who had to swerve to avoid a little lad driving the car along a main road - his parents were walking on the pavement alongside him."
