Tough on colleges

The threat of closure hangs over failing colleges, education minister George Mudie said this week. College governors have also been told they face the sack if they do not meet targets set for the worst-performers. Mr Mudie, speaking at the Association of Colleges’ annual conference, said there would be a “zero tolerance” of failure.
