Small primaries in challenging areas should be able to almost double the amount of money they can pay their heads to more than #163;100,000 a year, a heads’ union leader has claimed. Current rules mean that heads working in the smallest maintained primaries in England receive a maximum salary of about #163;57,000. But NAHT general secretary Russell Hobby said they should be able to earn up to #163;105,000 - the same amount available in big secondaries.
