The event, run by the National Society for Education in Art and Design, has been at Jordanhill campus of Strathclyde University for the past eight years. However, this year it has had to move, and organisers Laurie Anne Carr and Alison Mountain have brought it to the Dewars Conference Centre in Perth.
Some 200 teachers have already booked places and a further 100 are expected to turn up on the day - tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 3.30pm.
“We have a mini trade fair and specialist crafts are going to have a ‘Have-a-go’ room,” says Ms Carr. “We are hoping to organise another one in December. We plan to take over the whole centre (it has a bowling hall) and invite regions to show their good practice in primary and secondary art and design.”
The directory’s aims are:
* to showcase good practice;
* to network and share experiences of art and design educators;
* to broaden learning and teaching skills through process and technique;
* to stimulate debate about art and design practice.
The society is the leading national authority concerned with art, craft and design across all phases of education in the UK.
