Trailblazing for SEN

Twelve special schools were unveiled this week as the first special needs centres of expertise. They are the first schools to be awarded a specialist status which is not linked to a subject area. Special schools applying for the new status can choose to focus on one of: communication and interaction; cognition and learning; behavioural, emotional and social difficulties; and sensory andor physical needs.
