Training lacks impact

Early-years pupils are yet to feel the full impact of a national training scheme for Foundation Phase teachers, according to an interim report from Estyn, the Welsh inspectorate. Inspectors heard anecdotal evidence that children’s learning skills are improving, but not as a direct result of the training. Although the programme has been well organised, some teachers have found it difficult to attend because of disruption to their school and the need to arrange cover.
