If you fancy taking a peek at 200,000 museum pieces previously only seen by museum staff, now you have the chance. The pound;7.4 million Glasgow Museums Resource Centre in South Nitshill, which opened at the end of November, gives visitors the opportunity to see parts of the city’s internationally important collection which there is no room to display elsewhere.

The centre is housing the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum’s collection while it undergoes refurbishment and will continue to hold its reserves.

Visitors can see paintings, prints, ceramics, armour and archaeological specimens in the daily free guided tours. There will also be a programme of talks, activities and workshops for formal and informal learners.

Object viewing rooms and a reference library are available to encourage use of the facility, particularly to support research.

It is open daily. For more information call 0141 276 9300.
