Young explorers are being invited to take part in an expedition to the Himalayas.
The 16 to 20 year-olds can apply for the life-changing journey to the region of Ladakh (below) in July 2008, organised by the British Schools Exploring Society.
The chosen 40 will be camping and trekking in one of the world’s greatest mountainous regions, while undertaking worthwhile scientific research into human physiology at altitude and surveying the region. Mountaineering experience is not necessary, but an enthusiasm for the outdoors and a passion for exploration are key.
The cost of the expedition is pound;2,750 plus flights (expected to be around pound;1,000). However, BSES Expeditions will offer each volunteer fundraising support.
