Tried and tested

The Little Book of Experiments is the latest offering from Planet Science.

Aimed at key stage 2 children, with some work forming a transition to KS3, it contains 34 activities and demonstrations recommended by teachers. Some of these revisit the work of famous scientists, such as a steam-propelled boat that enacts Newton's Third Law, or a version of Michael Faraday's discovery of electromagnetic induction. Others explore the criteria for good toothpaste or test the saltiness of crisps. All of the activities and demonstrations unite curiosity, reason, imagination and pleasure. A database and more experiments are available by visiting www.planet-science.com. Planet Science, 11 Tufton Street, London SW1P 3QB.
