CHERIE Booth QC has advised the TUC that her husband’s government has broken European law guaranteeing all new parents up to 13 weeks’ unpaid leave. The argument is over the 3.3 million parents of children under ive born before the December 15, 1999 cut-off date, who were denied leave. The TUC is challenging UK regulations.

Reports compiled by Diane Spencer with the help of the National Children’s Bureau.
