Truancy at record high in primaries

Truancy in England’s state primary schools reached record levels last year, official figures show. Primary age pupils missed 0.67 per cent of school sessions due to “unauthorised absence” in 200910 - almost a 5 per cent increase on 200809. The overall truancy rate for all schools in England dropped marginally to 1.04 per cent, from 1.05 per cent the year before, according to the Department for Education.
